American Companies, Invest into Stopping the Pandemic

Stricter measures and action from the American government are of vital importance now. We must look to China as an example as they are a picture of hope that the virus can be contained without the tremendous mortality rate of Italy. Within three days, China and Chinese companies invested in building Wuhan hospitals specifically for coronavirus patients. 

How was China able to mobilize such a miracle? It relied on Chinese companies such as Huawei, China State Construction Engineering Corp, or the Three Gorges Corporation Ezhou Power Plant in order to power the additional 1,000 hospital beds of the Wuhan hospital. The rich Chinese companies were funding and aiding the Chinese government in this public health enterprise. Where is this same reaction seen in America? Imagine how the powerful money of American companies such as General Motor, Amazon, General Electric, Microsoft, Google, Walmart, and many more—and how easily they could have invested into supporting the American healthcare system. Where is the money from America’s richest in an effort to aid the government to stop the pandemic and in turn stop the impending economic recession? 

American hospital beds are being overturned for COVID patients. It is insane that the country that boasts of the best healthcare system in the world cannot handle a global pandemic. Why is that? Because the American healthcare system has prioritized giving help to the rich, not being able to support the middle class or lower class patients who exist in bigger quantities. 

American companies are holding onto their money while the working class struggle to work additional weeks to pay their rent. Americans mock social distancing measures, but it is important to recognize that the authoritarian-like lock down and isolation of China led to the decrease. America has chosen the same path as Italy, and it is unfortunate that we are only beginning to see the same statistical patterns as Italy. American companies can easily support and help the American government in avoiding the mortality costs of this pandemic, and they must do so immediately. I am reaching out to the most wealthy Americans; please support and aid your government in avoiding the mortality costs of this pandemic.
